TAG Heuer Monaco Skeleton Chronograph Dark Blue

TAG Heuer, known for its motorsport legacy, continues its racing heritage with the iconic Carrera and Monaco collections. The Monaco, introduced in 1969, remains a symbol of modern chronograph watches. Ahead of the 2024 Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, TAG Heuer unveils a new version of its Monaco Skeleton Chronograph in dark blue with a black DLC titanium case.

The Monaco Skeleton Chronograph, first released during the 2023 Monaco GP, marked TAG Heuer's return to openworked designs in its classic collection. Now, alongside the complex rattrapante edition, this futuristic chronograph offers a modern twist while the classic "Steve McQueen" Calibre 11 Monaco remains available for historical enthusiasts.

The new model retains the iconic 39mm x 39mm square case but is crafted from sandblasted grade 2 titanium, making it lighter despite its substantial 15mm thickness and 47.4mm length. The case features a black DLC coating, including the crown and pushers, and maintains a beveled sapphire crystal and 100m water resistance.

The primary update from the 2023 editions is the dial's dark blue tone, which contrasts appealingly with the black case. The sandblasted blue base dial, with an opaline blue module, incorporates the minute track and sub-dials. White indexes with Super-LumiNova enhance visibility, while yellow accents highlight the chronograph hands and date display.

Inside, the watch houses the in-house automatic Calibre Heuer 02 (TH20-00) movement, featuring an 80-hour power reserve, 4Hz frequency, column-wheel, and vertical clutch. Visible through the sapphire case back are rhodium-plated bridges, a blackened rotor, and yellow highlights on the column wheel and printings.
