IWC Schaffhausen Launches Three Pilot’s Chronographs Inspired by “APXGP” Team from “F1® THE MOVIE”

IWC Schaffhausen celebrates its partnership with the upcoming F1® THE MOVIE by launching three new chronographs in its Pilot’s Watches collection. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, F1® THE MOVIE stars Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a former racing driver, alongside Damson Idris as his younger teammate, Joshua Pearce. Together, they compete for the APXGP team, a fictional 11th team in Formula One™. The film, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and supported by IWC, will hit theatres in June 2025.

IWC Schaffhausen will appear as the official sponsor and team watch provider for the APXGP team. The watches in the Pilot’s Watches collection, worn by the characters in the film, are designed with black, gold, and white tones, echoing the APXGP team’s race cars and uniforms.

The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388309) features an 18-carat 5N gold case with a black lacquered dial and a black ceramic tachymeter bezel. Worn by Damson Idris’ character Joshua Pearce, this chronograph boasts gold-plated hands and appliques filled with white Super-LumiNova® for enhanced legibility. The case is paired with a black rubber strap and IWC’s EasX-CHANGE® system, allowing for easy strap changes.

The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP (Ref. IW378009) and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 APXGP (Ref. IW388116) are dedicated to the APXGP team. Both models feature stainless steel cases, black dials with white numerals, and gold-plated hands. They are water-resistant to 10 bar and come with special black rubber straps featuring laser engravings commemorating the team.

All three chronographs are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, a mechanical movement with a column-wheel design. The movement is built for precision, allowing the wearer to measure stop times up to 12 hours. With a bidirectional pawl winding system, the chronographs offer a power reserve of 46 hours. The vertical subdial layout enhances readability, with the stopped minutes displayed at the 12 o’clock position.
