IWC has unveiled a new limited edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL, designed in collaboration with Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team. 

The watch retains the signature 44mm x 12.6mm Ceratanium case, a unique material blend of titanium and ceramic, ensuring durability and lightweight comfort. The oversized diamond-shaped crown and robust protective elements on the flanks offer extra resilience, making this watch a true instrument for the most demanding environments. IWC continues to use the SPRIN-g PROTECT shock absorber system, which helps the timepiece withstand shocks, including during the intense moments that Toto Wolff experiences in his day-to-day activities.

However, the design of this special edition has received several updates. The black dial now features a new stamped grained texture, enhancing its overall aesthetic. The applied hour markers have been reworked and are now lumed for better visibility, while the inner flange has a floating appearance. Additionally, the openworked hands have been redesigned to add to the futuristic look of the watch. The BMG shock-absorbing spring is now coated with Petronas green Super-LumiNova, echoing the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team’s colors.

Beneath the surface, the base movement remains unchanged, with the IWC-manufactured calibre 32101 at its core. This automatic movement, sourced from Valfleurier, runs at a 4Hz frequency and provides an impressive 120-hour power reserve. Visible through the sapphire caseback, which bears Toto Wolff’s signature, the movement has been finished in matte black for a more refined and professional appearance.
