Min. ReadThis year's winners of the GPHG (Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève) competition, which is considered the Oscars of Watchmaking, have been announced.
Founded in 2001, Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has been operating as a foundation recognized as a public benefit organization since 2011. The main aim of this foundation is to highlight the most remarkable contemporary creations, reward them every year, and promote the art of watchmaking worldwide. GPHG organizes an annual competition with hundreds of watches introduced throughout the year and delivers the most important awards in this field to its owners. Held every November, the GPHG awards ceremony brings together distinguished representatives of the international watchmaking profession to honor their best designs and manufacturers who bring vitality and creativity to the world of watchmaking every day. On this occasion, awards are distributed in 21 different categories, including the “Aiguille d'Or” Grand Prix (Best in Show) award.
And now, here’s the complete list of the winning watches at the GPHG 2023.
This award represents the best watch (Best in Show) across all categories, which is also seen as the watch that best represents the watch industry as a whole. It is also considered the most prestigious award of the competition.
The Special Jury Prize, which rewards an outstanding personality or institution in the watchmaking world, was handed to Svend Andersen and Vincent Calabrese for the creation of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants).
