Min. ReadTAG Heuer has introduced a sun-powered update to its iconic Formula 1 collection, aligning with the brand's first year as a sponsor of Formula 1. The Formula 1 Solargraph offers a nod to the 1986 design, with nine unique variants featuring bold, retro-inspired colorways.
The new models sport a 38mm case (up from the original 35mm) and retain the signature shrouded lugs. The dial is updated with applied hour markers and a more legible set of hands. The colors of the dials vary, with printed minutes tracks and rectangular bar markers for the five-minute intervals. The date window replaces the shield at three o'clock.
The key feature of this release is the introduction of the Solargraph movement. The TAG Heuer Caliber TH50-00 is powered by light, needing only two minutes of direct sunlight to power the watch for a full day. A full charge lasts up to 10 months, and the movement has an impressive 15-year battery lifespan.
Additionally, TAG Heuer introduces a new composite material, TH-Polylight, for the bidirectional bezels and some cases. The models come in various combinations of colors and are available with either a rubber strap or a steel bracelet. The Solargraph series will gradually roll out at different Grands Prix throughout the year.
With its vibrant colorways and a light-powered movement, the Formula 1 Solargraph is a fun and accessible option for collectors and Formula 1 enthusiasts alike.
