Min. ReadSeiko updates its Prospex 1965 Diver's collection with three new versions adorned with refined details.
Designed based on Ref: 6217-8000, known as 62MAS, which was the brand's first professional diver watch introduced in 1965, the new models added to the collection feature updates such as a more comfortable case/bracelet design, increased water resistance and a new caliber with 3-day power reserve.
The new models come with a new case that offers touches to significantly increase wrist comfort, although they seem minor on paper. Designed with a diameter of 40mm and a height of 13mm, the sporty case promises optimum comfort even on small wrists with its lug-to-lug distance of 46.4mm. The case, which is made of stainless steel with increased resistance to scratches with Seiko's patented Super Hard Coating process, has a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating applied on the inside, and a unidirectional bezel on the front. Equipped with a screw-in crown and solid case back, the stylish case is now resistant to 300M water pressure, unlike previous models.
The dial, which is the most important distinguishing feature of the new models added to the collection, is offered in blue, black, and charcoal colors. The thick hands and indexes, which we are familiar with from the 62MAS design language, offer maximum legibility in almost any environment, with the help of the LumiBrite phosphor application. The date window, which is the only extra feature of the model, is located at 4:30 instead of 3 o'clock.
Caliber 6R55, a new and modern movement, gives life to retro-inspired new models that pay homage to the brand's heritage. The automatic caliber, which we remember from the King Seiko product group, oscillates at a frequency of 3Hz (21,600vph) and impresses with its 72-hour power reserve, which we call "weekend proof".
All models come with a metal bracelet equipped with a folding clasp that accommodates a diver's extension piece. The SPB455 model, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the brand, also includes a NATO-type textile strap made from material obtained from recycled plastic bottles.
