Min. ReadThe Belgium origin company Ressence which is well known with it’s liquid filled watch cases, launched it’s very first diver’s model “ Type 5 “. Benoit Mintiens, who is deeply connected to watches with passion, pleased the watch enthusiasts by making this high tech time piece.
The most important differentiating detail of the watch is it’s liquid filled case. Thanks to this unique design trick, the dial looks like it’s embedded with the crystal making the readability level at utmost for every occasion. Additionally, the mirror effect problem for diver’s watches which happens at certain angles is also avoided.
Though Ressence presents the Type 5 as a diver’s watch, the WR rating at 100M does not qualify for diving according to the ISO 6425. However, WR100M is more than enough for the standard water activities. The bezel which is designed exclusively for divers is another neat detail.
The front visual of the titanium case which measures at 46mm x 15,5mm is highly dominated with the sapphire crystal. Ressence managed to fill 37.5cc liquid inside the watch case which gets replaced during every service. The thermometer placed on the dial reads the temperature of the liquid which should remain between -10 and +40 Celsius to operate properly. Though the liquid is not effected by the pressure changes, expansion upon being exposed to high temperature is un-avoidable. The expansion level is tolerated with a special device inside the watch.
Though the caliber is based on ETA 2824, it is not quite possible to say it’s still ETA 2824 after all the modifications and upgrades. The patented mechanism ROCS ( Ressence Orbital Convex System ) provides excellent isolation between the caliber and the liquid. The watch is adjusted by rotating the case back instead of the conventional winding crown mechanism. Again, the patented RCLS ( Ressence Compression Lock System ) attaches the micro plates which connects the dial and the caliber with perfect tightness. This system also avoids severe damage to the watch upon receipt of hard impacts.
Highly modified 60 jewelled caliber beats at 28800vph and offers 36h of power reserve.
Ressence uses a special chemical which is 2.5x brighter than standard SuperLuminova making the watch glow like a torch under the most extreme conditions.
The watch is offered with a set of straps including a leather strap and a nato strap. Both straps suit perfectly with the watch and can be used with the titanium buckle.
Ressence Type 5 will be officially for sale within 2016. The price for owning this extreme time piece will be 35.800 USD.
