Min. ReadRessence introduces the Type 9, its latest minimalist masterpiece, following the success of the Type 8. Staying true to its "beyond hands" philosophy, the Type 9 showcases the brand’s patented ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), displaying time through rotating sub-dials. The standout feature of this release is its 39mm case, aligning with modern tastes and promising broader appeal.
Crafted from lightweight grade 5 titanium, the Type 9 weighs a mere 39 grams, including the strap. Its polished, pebble-like case measures 11mm thick and is topped with a domed sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective inner coating. Short lugs enhance its elegance, while the unique caseback doubles as a control system for winding and setting. However, water resistance is limited to splash protection.
Two dial options—Grey and Aqua (light blue)—offer versatility. For the first time, minute markers are engraved on the fixed bezel with 5-minute stick indices, while the hour sub-dial features numerals at 3 and 9, alongside a mix of indices and unique markings at 12 (Ressence logo) and 6 o'clock. Blue Grade A Super-LumiNova ensures excellent legibility, complemented by a circular-brushed bezel and hour ring.
The ROCS 9 module operates via the minute axle of a customized ETA 2892/2 movement, delivering a 36-hour power reserve. Synthetic woven straps with titanium pin buckles complete the look. Priced at CHF 12,500 (excluding taxes), the Type 9 Grey launches this month, while the Aqua edition debuts in February 2025.
