Min. ReadA Tribute to Olympic Medals
On July 26th, the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will kick off, and for the 31st time since 1932, Omega will serve as the Official Timekeeper. This role extends to the Paralympic Games, where Omega has been the Official Timekeeper since 1992. Besides their cutting-edge timing technology, Omega has released dedicated watches for the games: the Seamaster Diver 300M Paris 2024 and the Chronoscope Paris 2024. Now, they introduce the Omega Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition, celebrating the gold, silver, and bronze medals with a nod to the CK 859 model.
This special edition draws inspiration from the classic CK 859, praised for its vintage design. The new Omega Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition features a 39mm case made of Omega’s exclusive Bronze Gold alloy, combining 37.5% gold with palladium and silver. This stable alloy, safe for direct skin contact, offers a unique soft pink hue and resists verdigris oxidation. The case maintains the 1930s-inspired design with a flat central case, raised bezel, and a thickness of 11.7mm.
The solid bronze gold caseback is adorned with a stamped and frosted Olympic Games Paris 2024 medallion and the inscription “BG 859,” merging past and present. The watch is paired with a brown calf-skin leather strap, featuring a sandblasted Bronze Gold buckle with a vintage Omega logo.
The dial, crafted from solid Ag 925 silver, showcases a Clous de Paris pattern in the center, a nod to French craftsmanship. It includes a circular brushed minute track and a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. The historic Omega logo in dark grey complements the 18k Sedna gold hands coated in Bronze Gold PVD.
Powered by the in-house, hand-wound calibre 8926, this watch pays homage to the original 1939 calibre 30T. It boasts a 72-hour power reserve, operates at 3.5Hz, and includes modern technologies like a silicon balance spring, co-axial escapement, and high resistance to magnetic fields. The Omega Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition is a special, non-limited release, combining historical charm with modern innovation.
