Min. ReadIndependent German watchmaker Nomos continues its philanthropic partnership with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) by introducing a limited edition of its classical Ludwig model. With a longstanding tradition of craftsmanship and minimalist design, Nomos Glashütte aims to raise EUR 125,000 to aid MSF's humanitarian efforts through this release.
Founded in 1990 in the heart of German watchmaking, Nomos has collaborated with MSF since 2012, raising over EUR 1.3 million to date. This year’s Ludwig Neomatik Limited Edition comes in two sizes: 36.4mm and 38.5mm, each limited to 250 pieces. A standout feature is the red Roman numeral XII, symbolizing the collaboration.
The Ludwig collection merges timeless Roman numerals with a minimalist aesthetic. Crafted from polished stainless steel, the slim case—just 7mm in height—houses a white enamel-like dial. Elegant black Roman numerals, baton markers, and a recessed small seconds counter at 6 o’clock add to its classical appeal. Replacing the standard "Made in Germany" inscription is “Ärzte ohne Grenzen,” German for Doctors Without Borders.
Powering the watch is the DUW 3001 automatic movement, an ultra-slim in-house calibre at just 3.2mm thick. Featuring Nomos’ proprietary swing system, it offers a 43-hour power reserve and operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Glashütte ribbing, tempered blued screws, and perlage adorn the movement, showcasing exquisite German engineering.
Both sizes are paired with black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan straps and steel pin buckles, reflecting Nomos’ dedication to understated elegance. Sales from this collection aim to provide therapeutic food for 4,460 malnourished children in regions like Nigeria and Sudan, reaffirming Nomos' commitment to impactful causes.
