The Montblanc 1858 Split Second Chronograph Limited Edition 18, which reinterprets the historic 46mm Minerva military chronograph model equipped with the original Caliber 19-09CH in the 1930s, comes in a case made of a new 18K gold alloy called Lime Gold. The alloy, which has a pale yellow/green tone, contains 18K Gold (Au 750 ‰), Silver (Ag 238 ‰), and Iron (Fe 12 ‰). The case, in which glossy and satin surfaces are used together,  comes with a diameter of 44mm and a height of 14.20mm. Equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides, the case is water-resistant to 30 meters. The stylish case is accompanied by a crown with an embossed Montblanc emblem, equipped with an integrated button, which also controls the one-button chronograph feature of the model, and a rectangular button positioned at 2 o'clock that controls the Split-Second feature. The historical emblem of the brand is located at 12 o’clock on the dial where the tachymetric scale is placed in the center.

The retro-designed model beats with the Caliber MB M16.31, inspired by Minerva's 17-29 model developed in the 1930s. The 25-jewel / 287-part hand-wound movement operates at a frequency of 2.5Hz (18.000vph) and offers up to 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Equipped with two column-wheel coordinators for Monopusher Chronograph and Split-Second functions, the movement offers a visual feast with its hand-decorated main body and bridges made of 18K gold-plated German silver Maillechort material.
