Min. ReadBlancpain honors the Year of the Snake with a limited-edition masterpiece that blends Chinese and Gregorian calendars. The Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar 2025 features a luxurious 45.2mm polished platinum case paired with a striking green Grand Feu enamel dial.
Debuted in 2012, the Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar fuses the Gregorian calendar with the lunisolar Chinese system, used for agricultural and seasonal holidays. The lunisolar structure, reliant on Moon phases and Earth's solar orbit, necessitates adjustments like intercalary months, making this complication a technical triumph.
Key features of the watch include five hidden correctors under the lugs for precise calendar adjustments and a detailed representation of the Chinese Zodiac. A discreet snake appears in the aperture at 12 o’clock, while an intricately engraved snake graces the frosted white gold rotor.
The enamel dial harmoniously organizes complex data: a serpentine hand marks the Gregorian date on the outer edge, while three sub-dials display Mandarin inscriptions for zodiac signs, lunar months, intercalary months, and the five elements. Applied white gold Roman numerals and a moon phase at 6 o’clock complete the aesthetic.
Blancpain’s caliber 3638 powers this timepiece, boasting 464 components, a 7-day power reserve via three series-coupled barrels, and a silicon balance spring. Traditional finishing techniques highlight the platinum Wooden Snake engraving, adorned with a ruby.
Limited to just 50 pieces, the Blancpain Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar 2025 is priced at CHF 81,000. Discover more at Blancpain.com.
