Min. ReadIn celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Arnold & Son presents a stunning timepiece from its Perpetual Moon collection, paying tribute to the Year of the Snake. This model features an intricate depiction of a snake coiled around the branches of a Ginko Biloba tree, basking in the light of a grand moon.
The Perpetual Moon collection, introduced in 2013, revolutionized moon phase watches with its large 29mm aperture and hand-engraved moon. For the Year of the Snake, Arnold & Son has expanded this generous dial space to showcase a lifelike 18k rose gold snake, set against a sparkling blue aventurine night sky. The snake’s scales, forked tongue, and flat head are exquisitely detailed, while the tree and pagoda in the background are hand-painted with gold powder and coated in Super-LumiNova, creating an ethereal glow in the dark.
At the center, an 11.2mm mother-of-pearl moon floats in the aventurine sky, adorned with hand-painted shadows and Super-LumiNova to shine brightly at night. The Ursa Major and Cassiopeia constellations, hand-painted as an homage to John Arnold’s marine chronometers, add to the watch’s celestial theme. Hours and minutes are displayed by faceted hands and markers.
Featuring a deviation of just one day every 122 years, the moon phase is adjusted precisely through a second moon phase indicator on the caseback, ensuring accurate positioning. The watch is housed in a polished 41.5mm red gold case with a thickness of 11.67mm, showcasing the A&S1512 manual-winding movement with a 90-hour power reserve. The movement is beautifully finished with chamfered bridges, Côtes de Genève, perlage, and blued screws.
Limited to only eight pieces, the Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon 41.5 Year of the Snake comes on a blue alligator strap, lined with red alligator, and an 18k red gold buckle.
