Min. ReadThe iconic Amida Digitrend, revived this year by designer Matthieu Allègre and Depancel founder Clément Meynier, welcomes two striking new versions: black DLC and 4N gold PVD. These editions join the original stainless steel model, solidifying their place in the permanent collection.
With its unmistakable '70s aesthetic, the Digitrend boasts a stainless steel case measuring 39.8mm in width, 39mm in length, and 15.6mm in height. All three models feature brushed surfaces, accented with polished elements around the display, bracelet sides, and case back. The standout sapphire Light Reflecting Display (LRD) enables time reading from the side, a hallmark of its futuristic design.
Inside, the watch houses the Swiss Soprod Newton P092 automatic movement, operating at 28,800vph with a 44-hour power reserve. Its nine-component module drives the jumping hour and minute discs, enhancing the vintage charm with modern reliability. The updated bracelet tapers from 22mm to 18mm and includes a push-button-operated butterfly clasp, ensuring comfort and style.
While its unconventional case may divide opinions, the Digitrend delivers on comfort and durability. Its organic shape fits snugly on wrists, and the improved construction surpasses the fragility of its '70s predecessor. Despite its compact "lug-to-lug" length of 39mm, it feels lighter and slimmer than expected.
The new editions cater to diverse tastes: the black DLC for a sleek, stealthy look, the gold PVD for retro enthusiasts, and the steel for purists. Prices are CHF 2,900 (steel), CHF 3,250 (black), and CHF 3,500 (gold), with optional stainless steel bracelets available for CHF 350. These models are available on the Amida website and select retailers globally.
