Min. ReadMontblanc expands its 1858 collection with two limited-edition models featuring a newly developed Minerva manufacture movement, integrating an annual calendar and worldtimer function.
Montblanc introduces its first-ever annual calendar within the Minerva movement portfolio. These new timepieces house a manually wound movement composed of 336 meticulously hand-finished components. This high-end mechanism provides a 65-hour power reserve and showcases traditional haute horlogerie decorations, including Côtes de Genève and the rare snail finishing. The movement’s intricate details can be admired through a sapphire crystal case back.
The large date display sits prominently at 12 o’clock, just above Montblanc’s historic logo, with two apertures positioned side by side for optimal readability. A corrector at 2 o’clock allows easy date adjustments. The month is indicated around the dial’s periphery, marked by a red arrow—a tribute to the Roman goddess Minerva, symbolizing craftsmanship. In a nod to Minerva’s heritage, the month of July is replaced with "Minerva," commemorating the trademark's registration on July 30, 1887.
A striking feature of these timepieces is the hand-painted rotating globe depicting the Northern Hemisphere, complete with a day/night indication and a Greenwich Mean Time line in orange. Each globe, crafted from sapphire crystal, is painted by a skilled Swiss artisan over four painstaking hours. While the current editions display the Northern Hemisphere, a Southern Hemisphere version is available upon request.
Both models come in a 42mm case with two material options: a Lime Gold (18k) edition, limited to 30 pieces, and a stainless steel version, limited to 100 pieces. Inspired by Minerva’s historic designs, both models feature fluted bezels—a signature design element dating back to Minerva's 1927 timepieces. The Lime Gold edition pairs its case with a matching Lime Gold bezel, while the stainless steel version features an 18k white gold bezel.
Drawing inspiration from Minerva’s elegant mid-century watches, these timepieces feature refined silver-white sunray and grained dials. The stainless steel model is adorned with blue-coated hands and indexes, whereas the Lime Gold variant showcases yellow gold-coated hands and markers. These intricate details reinforce Montblanc’s commitment to preserving Minerva’s watchmaking legacy while offering a contemporary interpretation of its timeless craftsmanship.
